Welcome!

Welcome to "Bold, Honest, and Catholic".  This is a blog where I will share my thoughts on life and the world from my perspective as a practicing Catholic in the United States in our times.

Some posts may have political themes.  Some may be reflections on life in general.  Some will likely deal with culture and worldview.

I am a pretty ordinary American.  Middle class.  Reasonably educated.  I teach High School for a living.  I share my life with a husband and three dogs.

Then, in some ways I am not ordinary.  In that High School I teach the Catholic Faith.  That is rather unusual.  Obviously, I teach in a Catholic High School.

I am also a practicing Catholic in the sense that I strive to be faithful to the teachings of the Magisterium of the Church.  My Faith is not a personal thing in the sense that I make it what it is.  Of course, it is personal in the way that I live it.  But I acknowledge the authority of the Church that was established by Jesus Christ Himself as something that is outside of myself.

I am very aware that this is something that is rather unusual in our culture and in our times.  But . . . I have never been one to follow the crowd.

In spite of the fact that I am writing this blog from a distinctly Catholic perspective, it is unlikely that it will be overly pious.  While I have a healthy appreciation for sincere piety, I tend to be more pragmatic than pious.  My posts are more apt to be rambling thoughts,  or reflections on everyday experiences, with a bit of piety tossed in here and there!

I am looking forward to posting here.  And, if there is anyone out there reading, I hope you enjoy hearing what I have to say.

God bless!
